Tea Tasting Reports
After starting calibration cuppings with our Tasting Panel in 2019 and subsequently taking a hiatus in 2020 due to COVID-19, Tea Review has resumed blind tastings as of February 2021. We will continue refining our 100-point rating system with an eye toward publishing standalone reviews of commercially available teas by summer. This spring, we plan to announce our 2021 editorial calendar of tea tasting reports and reviews.
In 1997, Coffee Review started reviewing coffees for consumers and the trade using a 100-point scale. Such ratings were widely in use at the time for wines, but no one had used them before for coffee. The same challenges, opportunities, and caveats present themselves as we introduce 100-point reviews to the tea industry some two decades later. Learn about the caveats of rating teas on a numerical scale.
